Basic Nutrients V is a daily multi-vitamin / mineral supplement without iron or iodine.

Basic Nutrients V is a comprehensive multi designed for optimal absorption.* It is formulated without iron and iodine for men and post-menopausal women.*

    DESCRIPTION:

    Benefits - Foundational, Men's Health

A multi-vitamin/mineral supplement is more important than most people think. Because of the state of the current food supply and the difficulty of consuming five servings of vegetables and fruits daily, few of us get all the nutrients we need from food. Basic Nutrients V is a comprehensive multi-vitamin/mineral supplement that provides calcium, magnesium, and potassium in well-absorbed citrate and malate forms, as well as the active, tissue-ready forms of vitamins B2, B6, B12, and folate.* Basic Nutrients V also features trace minerals exclusively available from Thorne in picolinate form, optimally absorbable chromium nicotinate glycinate chelate, vitamin K1, and copper. But with no iron or iodine, this formula is for those individual who do not require supplemental iron (like young men) or those sensitive to iodine.*

A multi can be considered "dietary insurance," a small price to pay to ensure you get all the essential nutrients daily, even if you don't eat right.* Even greater health benefits can be realized when you eat a healthy diet in addition to taking a multi.*

Basic Nutrients V is a comprehensive multi-vitamin/mineral supplement that provides two key minerals – calcium and magnesium – as citrate and malate mineral complexes. Besides providing a well-absorbed mineral, citric acid (as citrate) has potential health benefits of its own.* As an important Kreb's Cycle intermediate (the body's process for making energy), citric acid is essential for metabolism in all living organisms.* Citric acid has been shown to inhibit the precipitation of calcium oxalate and phosphate in the urine.* Malic acid (as malate) has been shown to benefit individuals with muscle aches.*

Basic Nutrients V contains no iron because some individuals do not need additional iron supplementation, including women who are not menstruating and most men. Thorne also offers this multi as an option for individuals who have a sensitivity to iodine-containing supplements.

    WARNINGS:

    ALLERGY WARNING

This product is contraindicated in an individual with a history of hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

    PREGNANCY

If pregnant, consult your health professional before using this product.

    INTERACTIONS

As vitamin K interferes with the effect of anticoagulant drugs (like Coumadin), the concurrent use of these agents should be avoided.

Folinic acid and 5-methyl-tetrahydrofolate supplementation is not recommended concurrently with methotrexate cancer therapy, as they can interfere with methotrexate's anti-neoplastic activity; however, these folate sources have not been shown to interfere with the anti-inflammatory activity of methotrexate. An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.

    ADDITIONAL WARNINGS

Vitamin C can cause diarrhea in some individuals in large doses, which can vary from person to person and resolves when the amount is reduced.

Gas, bloating, or diarrhea may occur in some individuals taking magnesium supplements. This can occur at varying amounts depending on the individual and resolves when the amount is reduced.
