Al's Formula, named after one of Thorne's founders, supports the metabolic functions of a mature man.* It contains the vitamins and minerals in Thorne's other multi- formulas, plus specific ingredients that provide support for prostate health and cardiovascular function.* Al's Formula does not contain iron, because iron is generally not necessary and can be harmful for some men.

Al's Formula contains saw palmetto extract, an extra amount of zinc, and the amino acids alanine, glycine, and glutamic acid for nutritional support of the prostate.* Hawthorn extract is included to promote healthy cardiovascular function.* Like all Thorne multi-vitamin/mineral supplements, Al's Formula contains the active forms of vitamin B2 (riboflavin 5'-phosphate), vitamin B6 (pyridoxal 5'-phosphate), vitamin B12 (adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin), and folic acid (folinic acid and L-5-MTHF).

This product is contraindicated in an individual with a history of hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

INTERACTIONS

As vitamin K interferes with the effect of anticoagulant drugs (like Coumadin), the concurrent use of these agents should be avoided.

Folinic acid and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate supplementation is not recommended concurrent with methotrexate cancer therapy, as they can interfere with methotrexate's anti-neoplastic activity; however, these folate sources have not been shown to interfere with the anti-inflammatory activity of methotrexate. An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.

ADDITIONAL WARNINGS

Vitamin C can cause diarrhea in some individuals in large doses, which can vary from person to person and resolves when the amount is reduced.

Gas, bloating, or diarrhea may occur in some individuals taking magnesium supplements. This can occur at varying amounts depending on the individual and resolves when the amount is reduced.
